HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 10/20/1964BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING OCTOBER 20, 1964 The Board of Selectmen of the Town of South Burlington met on Tuesday, October 20, 1964 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Municipal Building at 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman, Ralph B. Goodrich, Augustus. T. Stannard and Stephen M. Whittlesey. MEMBERS ABSENT Waitstil E. Brown. OTHERS PRESENT Town Manager, Irving L. Douglas. READING OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The minutes of the meeting of August 4 and September 22, 1964 were to be retyped and corrections made on each of them. Minutes of October 6, 1964 were read and approved. REPORT ON OPTION OF LAND FILL SITE It was the decision of the Board Members that this report be tabled until the next Selectmen's meeting on November 10, 1964. APPOINTMENT TO ZONING BOARD The appointment to the Zoning Board was tabled until the next meeting. PLANNING COMMISSION'S REPORT The Town Manager reported to the Board that the Planning Commission's Report was not ready at this time. Mr. D'Acuti requested that he, Mr. D'Acuti, be notified of the next Planning Commission meeting. Mr. D'Acuti also requested that at least the Chairman of the Planning Commission attend the next Selectmen's meeting. WRIGHT COURT EASEMENT A statement written and signed by Mr. John Wright was submitted to the Board of Selectmen in which Mr. Wright gave the Town of South Burlington "permission to drain the East end of Wright Court onto my property South of Wright Court. In the event of damages done by excessive runoff water, etc., cost of repair and restoration to be borne solely by said Town of South Burlington". REVIEW OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT ON KENNEDY DRIVE-U 528-2(1) The Town Manager submitted and read his letter addressed to Mr. A.D. Bishop, Chief Engineer of the Vt. Department of Highways on October 7, 1964 in regard to the use of cement curbs rather than granite curbs as specified in the plans submitted to the Town of South Burlington. The Board of Selectmen reaffirmed the Town Manager's letter to Mr. Bishop. Mr. Douglas, Town Manager, is to secure an appointment with Mr. Holden, Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Highways and the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen suggested that members of the Board attend this meeting too. SOUTH BURLINGTON POLICE REPORTS Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman of the Board, suggested the future Police Reports be assembled for a three-month service period on one sheet so comparisons could be easily made. QUARRY HILL GOLF COURSE SEWERAGE LINE Mr. William Symanski of Webster-Martin Inc. presented a sewerage plan that he submitted to Mr. Ralph DesLauriers, owner and operator of the Quarry Hill golf course. Mr. DesLauriers requested that the Town of South Burlington put in the sewerage line now during the slow golf season. QUARRY HILL GOLF COURSE SEWERAGE LINE (Continued) The Town Manager and the Board stated there were no funds available for this project at this time. Mr. Ralph Goodrich made some suggestions for the line and Mr. Szymanski and the Town Manager were instructed to contact Mr. DesLaurier further concerning the project.
