HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 01/17/1964SPECIAL MEETING OF BOARD OF SELECTMEN JANUARY 17, 1964 A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the Town Office Building January 17, 1964. Meeting was called to order by Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Waitstil Brown, Ralph Goodrich, Augustus Stannard and Stephen Whittlesey. ALSO PRESENT Mr. Ladd, Road Superintendent; Irving Douglas, Town Manager The subject of adopting the pending ordinance relating to amending the Zoning Ordinance of the Town by rezoning the Antone property from business to industry was discussed. It was explained that on November 10, 1954, a 135' frontage by 260' deep property adjacent to the Antone property was approved for industry and this was unanimously approved by the three members of the Board of Selectmen. This particular property is now known as the Harrington property. On November 22, 1961, the Zoning Board of Adjustment heard a petition by Frank and Beulah Antone to use this area that was zoned business June 19, 1957 as a contractor's yard with certain restrictions as stipulated in the minutes of the meeting. The zoning Board voted four for and one against. It was so voted to allow the contractor's yard as requested by Frank and Beulah Antone of Patchen Road. It was explained that on June 19, 1957, a certain area of the Antone property was rezoned from "residential to business area." Three members of the Board of Selectmen voted for, two members voted against. It was so voted that this property as follows be rezoned to business area. The Planning Commission on December 14, 1963 recommended this property be rezoned to industry as requested by the Antones. After much discussion by the Board of Selectmen, the chairman of the Board called for a vote for or against adoption of the following Ordinance: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PROTECTIVE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH BURLINGTON The Selectmen of the Town of South Burlington hereby ordain: Section 1 The following property owned by Frank and Beulah Antone shall be zoned industrial: Beginning at a cement marker on the westerly corner of the Harrington-Antone boundary on the street line of Patchen Road and following in easterly line 264 feet, thence 3 feet northerly to a marker, thence in an easterly direction 53 feet to a marker, thence southerly direction 125 feet, then turning an angle of 81 degrees 15 minutes and proceeding in a westerly direction 217 feet, then an angle of 90 degrees 15 minutes and proceeding in a northerly direction 60 feet then turning an angle 98 degrees 15 minutes and proceeding in a westerly direction 100 feet thence 62 feet in a northerly direction to the point of beginning. Section 2 This Ordinance shall take effect from passage The Selectmen voted unanimously to adopt the Ordinance and to rezone the property described for industry. The Board reviewed the budget as presented to the Board of Selectmen by the Town Manager and reviewed a portion of this budget as presented. The Highway and Welfare budget were reviewed and the Selectmen's budget was reviewed to item 249. The Town Manager was instructed to notify Matthew Leary and Frank Antone of the Board of Selectmen's decision to rezone. It being 12:00 the Board voted to adjourn this meeting until Tuesday, January 21, 7:30 P.M. when they would continue to review the final budget. The Board adjourned at 12:00 midnight. Vincent J.
