As I mentioned at our recent phone conversation we have now finished the design for a diesel generator project to support the North Country Federal Credit Union at 69 Swift Street in South Burlington as an standby generator. The design is for a new sound attenuated enclosed, 180 kW, 225kVA outdoor generator, outdoor automatic transfer switch with bypass, and new main breaker all mounted on a new concrete pad located near the existing GMP 225 kVA pad -mount transformer. We have located the generator near the transformer to provide a reasonable location to intercept the existing service conductors at the existing vault. We have called out to upgrade all the conductors from the transformer to the new main breaker, then transfer switch to the building. The current main device is rated 1000A. The Owner would like to change the point of service to a new main breaker located out doors to eliminate the 11 meters in the building that currently serve the facility. They only have one tenant remaining and have made arrangements to change their lease to include electrical in the agreement. They are also planning to relocate soon which allows for this single metering point to work out well. We will keep the existing group meter center but jumper out the meters and have them returned to GMP. That work will be coordinated with the Contractor and GMP. To avoid an extensive amount of civil work we are utilizing the existing conduits to feed the existing main breaker in the facility. In addition we will need to utilize one of the existing 4" conduits (spare) to feed the ancillary loads to support the generator through the vault but have called out to provide the appropriate barrier /conduit to isolate these circuits. We are in hopes to have new GMP CT's installed at the pad -mount along with a new meter. Please refer to the attached drawings. The project is in hopes to have the civil work completed prior to winter and the installation of the generator and related work either this winter or spring of 2015 (weather and equipment delivery dependent). Please look for it shortly. We did not considered the generator as a utility structure but the Credit Union will provide landscaping as requested. Please note that the generator and transfer switch will be enclosed within a screened fence enclosure with privacy slats (color to be dark green tones) should match the evergreens we are proposing. Bob On Tue, Oct 28, 2014 at 1:04 PM, ray <ray@sbud.com> wrote: Section 13.18 of the Land Development Regulations (LDRs) has a section requiring utility cabinets and similar structures (generators are deemed to be similar) to have evergreen landscaping for screening purposes, see below. 13.18 Utility Cabinets and Similar Structures (4) There shall be sufficient landscaping with evergreens of sufficient height and density to screen effectively the facility from surrounding property. Landscaping may allow for the use of any doors so long as the door -side of the units are visible from an existing or planned public street. It is not clear that the plan you submitted complies with this requirement. Either submit a revised plan which includes new evergreen landscaping or provide documentation that the plan submitted complies with this requirement. Thanks.
