Re: Next Meeting's Agenda Items
Date: July 7, 1978
'-=3 Brassard Public Hearing - The applicant has requested a tc-bling
of this hearing until July 25.
#4 Blair Farm Subdivision - The proposal is to divide an existing
farmstead of 100 acres into 5 lots - one for the existing f?r-ihouse
and barns and the 4 others for new single- family dwellings. 'Three
of the proposed lots have conforming road frontage - the two "! ck"
lots (T#3 & 4) have no street frontage and access is proposed via p_ivte
rights of way. The reservation of land along the south property line,
for a future proposed East-West street in the Plan, should be required.
A pedestrian easement along the west property line should be considered.
Proper sight distance for the northerly curb cut should be confirms-d
by the developer.
T5 Air North Hangar - The amount of landscaping is adequate although
not fully shown on the plan. This can be resolved administratively
and should be as attractive as the present plantings in front of the
existing Air North Hangar. Circulation and parking are o.k. Access
is also o.k., provided an existing curb cut, used on an informal basis,
is closed.
#6 Burger King - This is a new application, to add a drive in window,-
to, the recently approved conversion of Big Burger to Burger King.- I
believe the various aspects of this proposal have been throughly
hashed out at the previous site plan review. I still maintain that
it is impossible to provide the necessary parking, circulation area,
or landscaping and approve -this application. In addition, one of
the major pointscf contention regarding access was the amount of new
traffic to be generated by the franchise conversion; new traffic counts
after Burger King is well established would verify or disprove the
applicant's contentions.
67 UVM Bus Shelter- This proposal is subject to review under section
13. , ltets, of the zoning ordinance. I see no substantive
issues although there is opposition from nearby residents on Spear Street

Dear Mr. Snvder:
Please be advised that the construction of a bus shelter west
of Spear Street presently underway on University of Vermont property,
is in violation of the South 7-'urlington Zoning Ordinance, sections
13.85 and 14.35. The construction of such a shelter is subject to
review by the Plarrinc+ Commission (13.85) and further, requires a
building permit'I. strongly suggest that you, or your authorized
agent, promptly apply for Planning Commission review. Your failure
to comply with these sections of the zoning will result in our re-
ferral of the matter to the City Attorney for approririate legal act-
ion. -
Yours truly,

Re: U.V.M. Gutterson Parking Area
Temporary Bus Shelter
Dear Sir:
Having been authorized by the University of Vermont to use a
portion of the Gutterson Parking Area and to provide a temporary bus
shelter on that parking area, we now apply for "Bus Shelter Review"
under Para. 13.85 of the South Burlington Zoning Ordinances.
See attached sketch indicating the location of the shelter on
the parking area, and also a sketch of the shelter itself.
The shelter is 12' by 16', wood frame with aluminum windows and
a door, all built on skids for portability. Interior lighting is
provided and a phone (restricted to M.C.H.V. - U.V.M. access).
M.C.H.V. use of the Gutterson parking area and the placement
of the shelter there is temporary, pending completion of parking
improvements at M.C.H.V.

Re: U.V.M. - Gutterson Bus Shelter
Dear Mr. Page:
Attached is an application for your review as agreed to in your
discussion with Larry Snyder and Jim Lawson.
Please accept our apologies for proceeding with work prior to
this submittal. Our prior discussions with U.V.M., regarding the use
of the Gutterson Parking and the Bus Shelter, had not indicated any
requirement for review by the City of South Burlington.
Having been informed we now wish to comply with the requirements
and procedures of your office.
