Dear Richard:
I am enclosing a copy of a letter I received from
the Secretary of State's office, permitting the
erection of the Quarry Hill Country Club sign. I
believe this is the information that the Zoning Board
wished in connection with Mrs. Deslaurier's application.
Very truly yours,

Dear Mrs. Deslaurier:
This will confirm our conversation of yesterday regarding a sign
you propose to erect on the Quarry Hill Country Club property near the
Gaynes Department Store and approximately opposite the Sheraton Motel
sign on Williston Road, South Burlington, Vermont bordering U.S. 2.
The understanding was that you may erect an "on premise" sign in
this location as long as it is not erected primarily to be visible from
Interstate 89. This sign is to be a "double faced" sign having copy on
both sides and erected at such an angle as to be primarily visible from
Route U.S. 2.
The local ordinance of the Town of South Burlington must be complied
with in addition to the restrictions provided in Chapter 14, Title 10,
V.S.A.
You seem to have a desirable and useful recreation center at Quarry
Hill and we wish you success in it's continued development.
I believe architect Marcel Beaudin has a good idea of what is necessary
to comply with the State Law. I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet
with you and Mr. Beaudin.
Sincerely,
r;

QUARRY HILL CLUB
July 301 1969
Letter issued by Mr. Joseph W. Moore, Admin. Asst. to
Secretary of State approving location of sign.
August 8, 1969
Zoning Board of Adjustment approved sign not to exceed
60 square feet and no higher than 20 feet.
Sign was erected in a location not agreed on by the
applicant and the Zoning Board.
Board requested that sign be removed.
Sign was removed in the fall of that year.
May 14, 1973
Contacted the Secretary of State. Law on signs
directed toward Interstate can not exceed 150 square
feet. Location of sign must be approved if the sign
is different from the one approved in July, 1969.
Also if sign exceeds 60 square feet approval on
location is necessary by the State.
