Energy and Environment: Core Location
10
Energy and Environment
●Eastview proposes development that
avoids mapped areas of significance in
City plans.
●Eastview was reviewed by
environmental scientists Gilman and
Briggs.
●Areas of designated significance are
avoided.
●Over 24 Acres of Dedicated Green
Space (approximately 25% of Project
land).
●The planned green spaces protect
environmental resources.
11
Energy Efficient New Home Construction
●New homes present an
opportunity to build for the long
term with new and efficient
construction techniques.
●Homes are certified by Efficiency
VT in excess of 2020 stretch
code.
●Solar ready roofs.
●Customized mechanical and
electrical systems
●Tight exterior envelopes
●High quality energy efficient
Marvin windows.
●Active partnerships with solar
providers for seamless
installations of roof-top solar
12
Energy and Environment: Resource Conscious
●Eastview proposes to make use of ledge resources on site that
will be required to be blasted for construction, significantly
reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
●Approximately 95,000 cubic yards of ledge exist at surface level
largely in a location that is far from existing residential
developments and easily accessed via Kimball Avenue.
●Eastview will likely need all of this stone for on-site
construction of buildings, roads, walking paths and amenities
proposed.
●The removal and processing of approximately 95,000 yards of
in-place stone is expected to reduce truck traffic by 18,600
truck trips (a trip being a one-way ride to or from a local
quarry).
●This reduction will eliminate approximately 102,135 miles of
truck traffic.
●It will reduce carbon emissions by 230+ tons in total.
●It will significantly reduce wear and tear and congestion on
local surface roads.
13
Connectivity
●A network of connections
focused on bike and pedestrian
infrastructure in line with the
comprehensive plan is proposed.
●Highlights Include:
○Recreation path along
Kimball Avenue.
○Recreation Path Connecting
Kimball with Tilley Drive
Project Parcel
○Extensive sidewalk and solid
surface path network.
○Trail Network.
○Interconnected open spaces.
