Medium to Higher Intensity Principally Non-Residential Medium Intensity Residential Energy and Environment: Core Location 10 Energy and Environment ●Eastview proposes development that avoids mapped areas of significance in City plans. ●Eastview was reviewed by environmental scientists Gilman and Briggs. ●Areas of designated significance are avoided. ●Over 24 Acres of Dedicated Green Space (approximately 25% of Project land). ●The planned green spaces protect environmental resources. 11 Energy Efficient New Home Construction ●New homes present an opportunity to build for the long term with new and efficient construction techniques. ●Homes are certified by Efficiency VT in excess of 2020 stretch code. ●Solar ready roofs. ●Customized mechanical and electrical systems ●Tight exterior envelopes ●High quality energy efficient Marvin windows. ●Active partnerships with solar providers for seamless installations of roof-top solar 12 Energy and Environment: Resource Conscious ●Eastview proposes to make use of ledge resources on site that will be required to be blasted for construction, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ●Approximately 95,000 cubic yards of ledge exist at surface level largely in a location that is far from existing residential developments and easily accessed via Kimball Avenue. ●Eastview will likely need all of this stone for on-site construction of buildings, roads, walking paths and amenities proposed. ●The removal and processing of approximately 95,000 yards of in-place stone is expected to reduce truck traffic by 18,600 truck trips (a trip being a one-way ride to or from a local quarry). ●This reduction will eliminate approximately 102,135 miles of truck traffic. ●It will reduce carbon emissions by 230+ tons in total. ●It will significantly reduce wear and tear and congestion on local surface roads. 13 Connectivity ●A network of connections focused on bike and pedestrian infrastructure in line with the comprehensive plan is proposed. ●Highlights Include: ○Recreation path along Kimball Avenue. ○Recreation Path Connecting Kimball with Tilley Drive Project Parcel ○Extensive sidewalk and solid surface path network. ○Trail Network. ○Interconnected open spaces. 14 Connectivity, Accommodation of Automobile Easements Provided for Future Traffic Needs New Signalized Intersections Official Map Roadway Connection 15 Green Space and Recreational Amenities ●Hillside features two significant green spaces, one of which is a park containing a playground. ●Eastview will add five more large green spaces. ●Hillside and Eastview offer 35 acres of greenspace equating to about 25% of the total project area. ●A significant Investment in recreational land 16 Green Space and Recreational Amenities 1 2 3 4 5 17 Green Space and Recreational Amenities ●Large event green and community garden. ●Pool and kids splash pad, community center for owners in Eastview. ●Modern club house will tie into existing historic barn. 18 Green Space and Recreational Amenities 19 Thank you for your review ●We look forward to working through the details of this proposal to bring the best possible project forward for the City of South Burlington. 20
