NARRATIVE:
On the afternoon of 1/9/21, the South Burlington Police Department was contacted by Muji Karim
regarding the theft of his vehicle from a hotel parking lot. The theft of the vehicle occurred sometime
between the evening of 1/8/21 and the afternoon of 1/9/21. Karim, a Paralympic athlete, noted
three of his prosthetic legs were in the vehicle at the time it was stolen. Two of Karim’s prosthetic
legs were used for his Paralympic running, while the other was for daily wear.
Karim’s vehicle was recovered by the Burlington Police Department on the morning of 1/10/21.
Karim’s vehicle was unoccupied at the time of its recovery, but contained several evidentiary items.
Unfortunately, Karim’s prosthetic legs were not found with the vehicle.
After several field interviews and investigative avenues, Karim’s two prosthetic running legs (valued
at approximately $25,000) were located on the morning of 1/11/21. The South Burlington Police
Department is still seeking information regarding Karim’s third prosthetic leg, which has not yet been
found. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this prosthetic can call SBPD at 802-
846-4111 and can remain anonymous if preferred.
