NARRATIVE:
On December 14, 2020 at 10:29 PM, South Burlington Police and Fire Departments were
dispatched to a report of a vehicle verses pedestrian crash which had occurred near 1210
Shelburne Road.
Investigating officers were able to determine the operator of a north bound vehicle, operator
#1, had struck the pedestrian in the roadway and left the scene. A second vehicle traveling
behind vehicle #1 did not see the victim lying in the roadway. Unable to stop in time, vehicle #2
also struck the victim. The operator of vehicle #2 remained on scene and cooperated fully with
investigators.
The pedestrian was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center by South
Burlington Fire / Rescue for treatment. The victim was identified as Jermee Slaughter age 34 of
Plainfield, VT. Slaughter succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the medical center.
Investigators are working with evidence left at the scene from vehicle #1 and a variety of
ambient video sources to further the investigation. Investigators ask that anyone with
information about this crash to contact the South Burlington Police Department, specifically
