On the listed date and time South Burlington Police responded to 108 Dorset Street for a reported theft.
The complainant reported that two male suspects had entered the Anchorage Inn and stole the ATM
machine located within the hotel. The complaint provided a description of the involved men and the
vehicle they used to flee the scene.
Responding officers were able to quickly converge on the escape route used by the suspects at which
time they determined the suspect vehicle was still in the area. Officers methodically checked the
neighborhoods along the escape route and located the suspect vehicle on Iby Street. The officers were
able to identify the vehicle occupants and confirm that they were the suspects who had stolen the ATM
from the hotel. The suspects were identified as Christopher Edwards 32 YOA of Swanton Vermont and
David Oleson 36 YOA of Burlington, Vermont. Officers scoured the area of Iby Street and located the
ATM in question, the dolly used to remove the ATM, and tools consistent with those needed to break
open the ATM all discarded in a wooded area.
While the officers we conducting their investigation, they learned that both the Burlington and
Colchester Police were investigating similar incidents which had occurred in their respective
jurisdictions. The agencies conducted a joint investigation which resulted in Edwards and Oleson being
issued citations to appear in Chittenden Superior Court – Criminal Division on January 28th, 2021 to
answer to the charges of Burglary and Grand Larceny which are both felonies.
