BRIEF NARRATIVE: On 07/08/2018 at 11:33 AM the South Burlington Police Department responded to the sidewalk located in front of 570 Shelburne Road for the report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival it was determined that the female, identified as Melanie Harmon, 38, of Burlington was intoxicated to the point of incapacitation.
Harmon declined to be treated by the South Burlington Fire Department. Officers attempted to take her in protective custody and provide her transportation to a detox center however she resisted Officers attempt to do so, and in the process, bit an Officer in the arm causing pain.
After a brief struggle, Harmon was taken into custody for Simple Assault on a Police Officer and Disorderly
Conduct. At the direction of the on-call judge, Harmon was brought to a detox center. Harmon is scheduled to
appear in court on 07/09/2018 at 0830 to answer to the above listed charges.
