BRIEF NARRATIVE:
In the fall of 2017, a resident of Laurel Hill Drive in South Burlington approached South Burlington Police about a possible Home Improvement Fraud matter involving a subject later identified as Robert Villa, 35 y/o, of South Burlington, VT. The victim advised they had paid Villa tens of thousands of dollars to make a number of repairs to their residence, and Villa had made faulty repairs or had not finished the repairs at all.
Investigation revealed Villa entered into multiple agreements with the victim to perform repairs to the
residence’s foundation as well as various repairs to plumbing, natural gas, and electrical systems. Villa
allegedly advised the victim he was fully insured and possessed certification for natural gas and electrical
repairs; investigation revealed Villa was not insured and did not possess any certifications to repair natural
gas lines or perform electrician repairs.
Villa was cited to appear in Chittenden District Court on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 8:30 to face charges of
Home Improvement Fraud, Unlicensed Electrical Installation, False Advertising, False Statement as to
Financial Ability.
