BRIEF NARRATIVE:
The South Burlington Police Department continues to investigate the murder of Anako “Anette” Lumumba, age
33, of South Burlington.
On May 18, 2019 the South Burlington Police received a call from the Albany, NY Police Department. They
reported finding Leroy Headley’s vehicle parked on a city street. Per the request of our investigators the
vehicle was seized and secured as evidence. On Tuesday, May 22, investigators from the South Burlington
Police Department traveled to Albany to be present when the Albany Police executed a search warrant on the
blue Pathfinder. We are not making public what may or may not have been located in the vehicle.
The report of finding the vehicle was delayed by police so that our law enforcement partners had the
opportunity to conduct a thorough search of the area in Albany in an attempt to locate Leroy Headley. He was
not located.
The whereabouts of Leroy Headley, age 36, of South Burlington, remains unknown. There is an active arrest
warrant for Headley alleging the crime of Second Degree Murder. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. He should not be approached. If seen, please call 911 and report the sighting to law enforcement.
Should anyone have general information regarding the whereabouts of Headley, or this crime, they are asked
to contact the South Burlington Police Department Tip Line at 802-598-3528. This is a tip line only and should
