BRIEF NARRATIVE: On 04/16/2018 at approximately 01:13 AM a South Burlington Police Officer was traveling on White Street when they observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal while making a left turn onto Patchen Road from White Street. The Officer further observed the vehicle to swerve out of its lane of travel while heading north on Patchen Road. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Lowell Thompson, 37, of Burlington, VT. While speaking to Thompson the Officer observed an odor of intoxicants emanating from his person and for his eyes to be bloodshot and watery. Thompson’s speech was also slurred. The Officer administered a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises in which Thompson displayed numerous clues of impairment. Thompson refused to provide a roadside sample of his breath and was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Thompson was issued a citation to appear in court on
05/08/2018 at 08:30 AM to answer to the charge.
