APPEAL OF MAMMOTH MART, INC.
Appeal of Mammoth Mart, Inc. seeking a variance from Section 7.10,
Use regulations of the South Burlington Zoning Ordinance. Request ,
is for permission to alter the interior of Mammoth Mart for purposes
of display and sales of building materials, also construct an outside
enclosure for bulk storage of said materials, at Mammoth Mart,
Shelburne Road.
Mr. Ward explained that this was the same request as March 1, 1972
and new evidence would be presented. The area is zoned Business
District A. The proposal is to display and sell building materials
being a Business B use.
The first request was denied by the City Council because of lack of
landscaping. Propose to const_t,;t a door on the south side to handle
building materials.
Mr. Wadhams, Attorney representing Mammo-u-n ;Mart, said they will
request variance tonight only for sales of building materials within
the building. They will come back again for a variance on outside
stor

Mr. Cleary suggested returning this to the City Council with the
original request after a landscaping plan has been approved by the
Planning Commission.
Mr. Cleary moved to table the proposal until on or before -July lst,
pending landscaping approval of Planning Commission, seconded by Mr.
Fayette and unanimously passed.
APPEAL OF MOBIL OIL COMPANY
Appeal of Mobil Oil Corporation seeking a variance from Section 7.80,
Sign requirements of the South Burlington Zoning Ordinance. Request is
for permission to erect four additional free standing signs, containing
approximately eighty-five (85) square feet, at all Mobil Service Stations
within the City of South Burlington.
?Mobil Oil requested action be tabled until the July 1, 1972 meeting.
So passed.
APPEAL OF JAMES '^TLEY
Appeal of James Rowley seeking a variance from Section 5.40, Yard
requirements of the South Burlington Zoning Ordinance. Request is for
permission to construct a garage, 20 feet x 20 feet, within twenty-
five (25) feet of the southerly side yard at 1160 Hinesburg Road.
Mr. Ward stated that the area was Planned District and was set-off
prior to 1964 ordinance. Residential District A regulations apply.
The request is to construct a 20' x 20' garage within 25 feet of the
side yard, the minimum required being 50 feet.
Mr. Rowley presented a new site plan to the Board.
Discussion by Board.
Variance granted for garage.
1st finding - Not detrimental to surroundings, reasonable request.
