Car Insurance Rate Boosts
MONTPELIER — Last year's
car insurance rate increase,
approved by Banking and Insur-
ante Commissioner James H.
Bunt, will 'be upheld today in
an order by Washington County
Chancellor Robert W. Larrow.
The action to rescind retro-
actively a 20 per cent Rutland
and three per cent Burlington
rate hike, ,effective Jan. 4, 1967,
was brought by Rutland Atty.
Robert Bloomer. He alleged that
the trend statistics compiled by
the National Bureau of Insur-

Hunt in the rate decision were
outdated and didn't reflect
Rutland area claims, during the
appeal hearing March 21.

ruled the system was reason-

The Board of Aldermen denied
a request for two 40-foot drive-
ways three weeks ago. Attorney
James J. McNamara, repre-
senting Carrols, said the firm
would be willing to post a bond
if the city wished, or its repre-
sentatives also would meet with
members of the committee.
Alderman M. Robert
Blanchard, D-5, earlier had pro-
tested that Carrols had not
responded to an aldermanic
order that city property in front
of the city lot be resoded.
Judge Larrow said, "I find
this is proper under Vermont
regulatory law, which refers

restaurant property and

by the aldermen.
J.W. Funck of Syracuse, a
member of Carrols real estate
department, said. under ques-
tioning from Alderman .Douglas
C. Pierson, R-6 that the res-
taurant will be a "sit-in" type
with 84 seats and no car servic

Dear Mr. LeClair:

r
The Board of Aldermen in a meeting of April 9, 1968 directed
me to inform you of their action regarding Carrols Restaurant
Corporation.
The Board refused to grant permission for the Corporation to
break the curbing for two (2) forty foot driveways and the
Corporation was also directed to replace the earth and sod
they removed from the strip of land that is located within
the Burlington boundaries.
The Aldermen also feel that this Corporation intends to operate
a drive-in restaurant rather than the regular restaurant. The
Aldermen felt that this information would be helpful to you in
future dealings with this Corporation.
Yours -truly,

You left in this office Yesterday a set of plans for a Carrels

Title 16, sections 1303 and 1.303, require that such approval must be
obtained in advance of construction. Those sections include a penalty

your formal notice that the construction is a violation of State
Statutes until the plans are actually approved sad you have received
written notice from this office of such approval.
