Marla,
See attached zoning application, abutters list and drawings.
Below is a more thorough description of each “pond”:
Pond 3:
Pond 3 is located along the northern side of Kennedy Drive , east of the large wetland next to South Burlington High
School and West Twin Oaks Terrace intersection, and west of the Timber Lane intersection (44° 27' 14.6"N, 73° 10'
13.3"W). At existing Pond 3 site, the proposed project includes the incorporation of an additional approximate 2.76
acres of largely impervious area, which is currently untreated and discharges to the wetland complex to the west of
Pond 3 via the swale on the north side of Kennedy Drive. This swale currently bypasses Pond 3 by way of a culvert under
Pond 3’s access drive. To capture this additional area, the proposed design will redirect the flows in the swale into Pond
3. The proposed project includes retrofitting existing Pond 3 to a gravel wetland, and the expansion of the treatment
practice footprint to the north and east to manage the full Channel Protection Volume (CPv) of the proposed expanded
contributing drainage area, and to provide additional nutrient removal. The proposed project is contained to City
owned property, and will include restoration of the property where the pond is located. Existing utilities such as
sanitary sewer, water distribution, gas distribution, electrical, and telecommunications services are not anticipated to be
disturbed or impacted by the proposed project.
Ponds 5/6:
Pond 5 is located along the northern side of Kennedy Drive, west of the Winding Brook Drive entrance and across from
the the Windridge Court entrance (44° 27' 26.4"N, 73° 09' 37.4"W). Pond 6 is located along the southern side of
Kennedy Drive just east of the Windridge Court entrance (44° 27' 27.4"N, 73° 09' 33.0"W). At existing Pond 5 and Pond
6, the proposed project includes the expansion of the Pond 5 drainage area to include the 1‐yr storm event runoff from
Kennedy Drive that is currently managed by Pond 6 to this practice, as well as rerouting runoff from the Windridge Court
apartment complex parking lot. Incorporating these additional drainage areas requires an overflow structure and
connection of the existing Pond 6 drainage collection system and the Windridge Court parking lot to the Pond 5 drainage
collection system as follows:
1‐yr flows from the Pond 6 collection system will be rerouted at the Pond 6 inlet structure on Kennedy Drive to a Pond 5
catch basin structure located just to the west of the Pond 6 access drive. The interconnection requires new 15” HDPE
pipe on Kennedy Drive, a new diversion structure with weir wall at the Pond 6 inlet, and modifications of the existing
receiving catch basin structure on Kennedy Drive. The proposed project is contained to City owned property and street
right‐of‐ways, and will include the restoration of pavement, curbing, sidewalks, and greenbelt on all streets impacted.
Existing utilities such as sanitary sewer, water distribution, gas distribution, electrical, and telecommunications services
are not anticipated to be disturbed or impacted by the proposed project.
The connection of the Windridge Court parking lot requires an inlet structure at the existing parking lot collection system
outfall located in the swale along the southern side of Kennedy Drive. From there, a connection will be made to the
2
Pond 5 collection system catch basin structure located to the west on Kennedy Drive. This interconnection requires a
new 15” HDPE pipe from the new drainage structure to the existing catch basin on Kennedy Drive, and modifications of
the existing catch basin structure. The new structure will have an overflow to divert high flows to the existing swale for
discharge to existing
outfall. The proposed project is contained to City owned property, street right‐of‐ways, and private property. The
project will include the restoration of pavement, curbing, sidewalks, and greenbelt on all streets impacted, and
landscaping and restoration of parking lot on private property. Existing utilities such as sanitary sewer, water
distribution, gas distribution, electrical, and telecommunications services are not anticipated to be disturbed or
impacted by the proposed project.
