You and I agreed that the freestanding sign must be considered as a directory, not a second freestanding sign, so we have reduced the size to eight square feet. To be considered as a second freestanding sign, the existing "1 Kennedy Drive" sign would have to be moved next to an entrance, which would not serve the needs of the property. I have discussed the wall sign with Julie Beth, who agrees that it does indeed qualify as a wall sign. I served on the ad -hoc committee that came up with the directory provisions, so I know the intent was to allow an additional eight square feet on a wall sign for a directory. It was never intended to regulate the content of an otherwise legal wall sign, which can be messy. Her one caveat was in regard to Table 10-1 (third line), which allows up to two wall signs per tenant. As long as this new wall sign is in place, at least one tenant will be restricted to just one sign by the office door. At this time, most offices have just one "shingle".
