2. PRIOR TO PERFORMING ANY EARTHWORK AND DURING CONSTRUCTION,
EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE TO BE IMPLEMENTED. THE
SMALLEST PRACTICAL AREA OF LAND SHALL BE DISTURBED AT
ANY ONE TIME DURING DEVELOPMENT. WHEN LAND IS DISTURBED
DURING DEVELOPMENT, THE DISTURBANCE SHALL BE KEPT TO THE
SHORTEST PRACTICAL DURATION AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
LAND SHALL NOT BE LEFT DISTURBED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS,
NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL.
3. SILT FENCE SHALL BE INSTALLED AS SHOWN PRIOR TO ANY ON -
SITE GRADING OR DISTURBANCE OF EXISTING SURFACE MATERLAL.
IT SHALL BE MAINTAINED DURING AND AFTER CONSTRUCTION TO
REMOVE SEDIMENT FROM SURFACE RUNOFF. WHERE POSSIBLE
NATURAL DRAINAGE -WAYS SHOULD BE UTILIZED AND LEFT OPEN
TO REMOVE EXCESS SURFACE WATER. THE SILT FENCE IS TO BE
MAINTAINED AND CLEANED UNTIL ALL SLOPES ARE PERMANENTLY
STABILIZED.
HAYBALES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN EXISTING AND NEW DRAINAGE
SWALES, AROUND DRAIN INLETS AND ALONG LIMITS OF WORK AS SHOWN
OR DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. HAYBALES WILL BE STAKED AND
MAINTAINED PRIOR TO AND DURING CONSTRUCTION UNTIL DISTURBED AREAS
ARE PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
5. ALL DISTURBED AREAS AND SIDE SLOPES WHICH ARE FINISH

1. THE EROSION CONTROL PROCEDURES SHALL CONFORM TO THE VAOT
'STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION"
- SECTION 105.23 (CONTROL OF EROSION AND SILTATION).
2. PRIOR TO PERFORMING ANY EARTHWORK AND DURING CONSTRUCTION,
EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE TO BE IMPLEMENTED. THE
SMALLEST PRACTICAL AREA OF LAND SHALL BE DISTURBED AT
ANY ONE TIME DURING DEVELOPMENT WHEN LAND IS DISTURBED
DURING DEVELOPMENT, THE DISTURBANCE SHALL BE KEPT TO THE
SHORTEST PRACTICAL DURATION AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
LAND SHALL NOT BE LEFT DISTURBED DURING THE WINTER MONTHS,
NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL.
3. SILT FENCE SHALL BE INSTALLED AS SHOWN PRIOR TO ANY ON -
SITE GRADING OR DISTURBANCE OF EXISTING SURFACE MATERIAL.
IT SHALL BE MAINTAINED DURING AND AFTER CONSTRUCTION TO
REMOVE SEDIMENT FROM SURFACE RUNOFF. WHERE POSSIBLE
NATURAL DRAINAGE -WAYS SHOULD BE UTILIZED AND LEFT OPEN
TO REMOVE EXCESS SURFACE WATER. THE SILT FENCE IS TO BE
MAINTAINED AND CLEANED UNTIL ALL SLOPES ARE PERMANENTLY
STABILIZED.
4. HAYBALES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN EXISTING AND NEW DRAINAGE
SWALES, AROUND DRAIN INLETS AND ALONG LIA ITS OF WORK AS SHOWN
OR DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. HAY64LES WILL BE STAKED AND
MAINTAINED PRIOR TO AND DURING CONSTRUCTION UNTIL DISTURBED AREAS
ARE PERMANENTLY STABILIZED.
5. ALL DISTURBED AREAS AND SIDE SLOPES WHICH ARE FINISH
GRADED WITH NO FURTHER CONSTRUCTION TO TAKE PLACE SHALL
BE LOAMED AND SEEDED. A MINIMUM OF 4' OF LOAM SHALL BE
PLACED. SEED, LIME AND FERTILIZER SHALL CONFORM TO ALL
APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF THE VAOT 'STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS
FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION.'
6. ANY DISTURBED AREAS WHICH ARE TO BE LEFT TEMPORARILY, AND
WHICH WILL BE REGRADED LATER DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE
MULCHED AND SEEDED WITH RYE GRASS TO PREVENT EROSION, HAY
OR STRAW MULCH SHALL BE APPLIED TO ALL FRESHLY SEEDED AREAS
AT THE RATE OF 2 TONS PER ACRE. BALES SHALL BE UNSPOILED,
AIR DRIED, AND FREE FROM WEED, SEEDS AND ANY COARSE MATERIAL.
TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE UTILIZED BY THE
CONTRACTOR AS REQUIRED TO PREVENT ANY SEDIMENTATION FROM
OCCURRING WITHIN ADJACENT WETLANDS AREAS TO BE PROTECTED.
