(802) 658-7961 OFFICE 500 PATCHEN RD. August 22, 1985 To Whom It May Concern: Tnis letter is in support of changes that Mr. Peters is planning for Harrington Brothers Distributors Warehouse. Tnere has been a safety problem with the tractor trailers parking in the front of the building to unload. The unit usually takes up half of the road and passing venicles must use Mr. Cota's driveway to get by. My understanding is that with the expansion of the building the trucks will unload in the rear and not use the front of the building. This will be a great improvement. Also we have no problem with the continued use of the landfill road for access to the back of Harrington Brothers Warehouse by their suppliers. Respectfully, SOUTH BURLINGTON STREET DEPARTMENT Albert Audette Superintendent SOUTH BURLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT 575 DORSET STREET SOUTH BURLINGTON, VERMONT 05401 Richard G. Carter, Chief Telephone (802) 658-1050 July 11, 1985 Bill Peters 204 Meadowwood Drive South Burlington, Vermont 05401 Dear Mr. Peters, Regarding our phone conversation of 07-10-85, I would like to confirm that the aspect of a design change at Harrington Brothers on Patchen Road, which would provide for loading -unloading to be done at the rear of the building as opposed to the front, as it currently is, is a highly desirable change when viewed from a traffic and safety standpoint. Presently, large tractor -trailer units must block one of two lanes of traffic on Patchen Road. A design change allowing for this to occur on the east side of the building would alleviate this unsafe condition and would provide safer road travel without the existing hazard created by the present method of delivery. The Police Department supports this measure to provide safer unobscured traffic flow for its motorists.
