Sept. 30, 1986
To the South Burlington Planning Board,
We are requesting permission for a variance to install
a small dining area in our present location at 65A Patchen Rd.
Mt. Wings & Things has been in business in S. Burlington for
over two years. We presently offer delivery and take out service
only. Pursuant to numerous requests from our customers, we are
asking permission to install two booth units and a counter to
enable our customers to consume our products on the premises.
We have been searching for a second location to accomodate a
full retaurant operation, but our attempts have been unsuccessful.
As an interim solution, we would like to convert a recently
vacant office on our floor to a "less than 15 seat" dining area.
We do not desire to establish a llrestauant" per se. Furthermore,
we understand the growth situation in So.. Burlington, and the
impact of development on parking and traffic. However, in light
of the abundance of parking and the limited size of the area which
we seek to develop, we do not feel that an impact on parking nor
traffic will be generated. This development, if permitted, will
not alter the essential character of our neighborhood. Our
landlord, Hal Bensen, supports our request to fully utilize the
facility which we rent and pay property tax on.
Mt. Wings & Things has always been a community consciuos
business and will support whatever decision that the Planning
Board offers. We hope that the size and scope of our proposed
project will be taken into consideration. The 11 foot by 12 foot
room which we desire to use will purpoely only accomodate a small
number of people, In light of our lack of options, and our will-
ingness to abide by whatever guidelines which the Board may set,
we hope that a variance may be granted. Thank you.
Respectfully,
Mark R. Wood
President
