HomeMy WebLinkAboutVR-83-0000 - Supplemental - 0033 Mills Avenue (2)TO: Frank Ward, Zoning Administrative Officer FROM: Elizabeth Downer SUBJECT: Brian McMann's Request for Variance DATE: May 17, 1983 I am aware of Brian and Ann McMann's appeal seeking a variance from the dimensional requirements of the South Burlington regulations in order to construct an addition to their garage to within four and one-half feet from their northerly side yard at 33 Mills Avenue which borders on my property. I have no objection to this proposed construction and do not feel that such a variance would alter the character of the neighborhood nor have any adverse effect on my adjacent property. Eli-eabeth Downer One Lynn Avenue So. Burlington, VT 05401 Phone: 863-9113 TO: Members of the So. Burlington Zoning Board of Adjustment FROM: Brian & Ann McMann SUBJECT: Request for Variance DATE SUBMITTED: May 2, 1983 1. A variance is sought to compensate for the narrowness of our side boundary in order to construct an addition to our single car garage to accomodate two vehicles. 2. Our single car attached garage presently stands 131-2 ft. from the side boundary. We wish to construct a 9 ft. addition to this garage which involves a request for a variance. The proposed structure would be 4i ft. from our side boundary. 3. The narrowness of our side boundary is the sole reason for the unnecessary hardship of a single car garage for a two -car household. 4. The proposed garage extension would be constructed to follow the same single pitch roof line of our present garage which is attached to our house. Our home is the last residence situated on the westerly side of Mills Avenue. Our adjacent neighbor's residence is positioned on this property at a 900 angle to the position of our house. The entrance is this neighbor's home is on Lynn Avenue. The back of this house faces the side of our garage. A fence separates these two properties and a 10 ft. tree hedge on our neighbor's property also lines most of the area where the proposed addition would be constructed. 5. The proposed 9 ft. addition to our garage will extend the width of our garage to 21 ft, the minimum reasonable size structure to accomodate two cars.
