Per Section 10 of the City of South Burlington Sign Ordinance, the Shearer Audi dealership building is limited to a maximum of 2 wall -mounted signs (per Table 10-1, page 25), totaling 100 square feet (per Section 10(b)(1), page 23). The measurement of these signs conforms to the following definition of sign area: "The basis for the area of the sign [with cut-out letters] shall be computed by taking one-half the area enclosed within the smallest regular geometric figure or figures needed to completely encompass all letters, including vertical and horizontal spacings between letters" (page 3-4). A rectangle around the north facade logo measures 23.20 SF - one half of which is 11.6 SF. A rectangle around the east facade logo and letters measures 101.20 SF - one half of which is 50.6 SF.
