Wall -Mounted & Incidental Sins The proposed wall -mounted signs are both located on the west facade of the building. The VW logo is 7.76 square feet and the 'Shearer' dealership sign is 23.13 square feet, for a total of 30.89 square feet. An incidental sign with the word 'Service' will be added above the service area on the southern facade, measuring 4 square feet. The City's Sign Ordinance specifies that "the total area of all wall signs shall not exceed five percent (5%) of the area of the principal public facade of the building." The west facade which faces Shelburne Road measures approximately 1,360 square feet, 5% of which is 68 square feet. The total area of the wall -mounted signs and incidental sign is 34.89 square feet, which conforms with the ordinance. Free -Standing Sign The City's Sign Ordinance specifies that "a free-standing sign which is located on a lot of 40,000 square feet or more shall not exceed forty (40) square feet in sign area." This lot is 134,264 square feet and has 396.65 feet of frontage, meaning that the maximum allowable area of a free- standing sign is 55 square feet. The proposed free-standing is a ground sign bearing the logo at the top. The support structure of this sign is measured as the bottom half, while the sign itself is considered the top half. This is shown on the attached graphic. The sign portion measures 7' 4.5" x 5' 4" or 39.31 square feet, which conforms with the ordinance.
