The top elevation (East Elevation - North) shows all the signs - 2 wall signs (Buick/GMC and Chevrolet), 2 window signs, and 1 incidental sign. The East Elevation - South is just a close-up of the Buick/GMC wall sign & Shearer window sign and shows the rest of the east facade wall. This repeats what is shown in the East Elevation - North and is not representing a second Buick/GMC sign. Does that clarify? I could have the architect provide a revised plan that makes that more explicit, if you think that would be helpful. Perhaps a "cut line"? Combined, these cannot exceed 100 SF (per Section 10(b)(1), page 23) based on the east facade area of 5,417 SF. The area of these signs must be measured as follows: "The basis for the area of the sign [with cut-out letters] shall be computed by taking one-half the area enclosed within the smallest regular geometric figure or figures needed to completely encompass all letters, including vertical and horizontal spacings between letters" (page 3-4). This application proposes two wall -mounted signs on the east facade of the building: the "Buick/GMC" letters and the "Chevrolet" letters & logo, as shown on the attached plans. A rectangle around the 'Buick" and "GMC" letters measures 37.6 SF - one half of which is 18.8 SF. A rectangle around the "Chevrolet" logo and letters measures 49.8 SF - one half of which is 24.9 SF. The windows are approximately 36% of the total facade - 1,950 SF. These signs will total 67.3 SF or approximately 3.5% of the windows. Incidental Sign A "Service" sign is also being shown above the service garage. A rectangle around these letters measures 7.2 SF - half of which is 3.6 SF - which complies with the maximum area (4 SF) for incidental signs.
