Ray,
As discussed, We measured the area of the sign (scaled from the photographs) per 3d(1) Areas of Sign for cut out letters
(Pg. 3) in the South Burlington Sign Ordinance.
3d(1) for cut-out letters, the basis for the area of the sign shall be computed by taking
one-half the area enclosed within the smallest regular geometric figure or figures needed to
completely encompass all letters, including vertical and horizontal spacings between letters ...

We came up with:
Two boxes;
A 5'x5' around the Logo (25 sf)
and a
29'x3' box around the cut out letters. (87 sf)
For a total area of 25sf + 87sf = 112 sf.
Tr the ordinance for cut out letters we divide that number by 2 for a calculated 'Area of Sign' of 56 sf (well below the
a of 100 sf max listed).
(Allowable is 5% of wall area, 454' in this case, or 100sf whichever is less).
Please instruct us if there is another way to calculate the area, or if this explanation is sufficient. Thank you.
