May 29, 2019
Present: Barb Sirvis (at large), Linda Chiasson (NRC), Mike Simoneau (RPC), Maggie Leugers, (staff), Larry
Kupferman, at large,
Members of the public: Muriel More, Molly Bezio, and Elizabeth St. James
1. Safety Procedures: Maggie directed the group to the side doors and to the side parking lot area in case
of an emergency.
2. Appoint Clerk: Molly Bezio
3. Adopt Agenda: Adopted as presented
4. Agenda changes: None
5. Minutes: 5/15/2019 APPROVED with amended changes, s ll need to approve 5-6-19 minutes at next
mee ng.
6. Community Forum debrief:
a. Remove picnic table
b. Ligh ng not recommended
c. Farrell maintenance raised as a concern and speed at which bikers are passing in front of Dog
Park. Commi ee asked the Chair to email these concerns to Holly Rees & Jennifer Kochman
(Recrea on & Parks), Jus n Rabidoux (DPW) and Ashely Parker (Bike-Ped).
d. Design Element: Height of fence was raised as a concern.
7. Brief report of Barb’s mee ng with City Manager & Deputy City Manager:
a. Wetlands under examina on before site plan design begins
b. Accounts have been established for fundraising upon approval by SBCC
c. Friends of Dog Park needs a charter/purpose statement
d. Invite Animal Control Officer to significant events
e. 911 appropriate number to call in event of emergency and/or conflict
f. No concern with raising annual license fee by $4
8. Review dra DPC Report to SB City Council:
a. Add commentary as to the numerous site visits to other local dog parks
b. Map: Addi on of approximate dog park area and define green area
c. Appendix B: Remove picnic tables
d. Budget Proposal: Move water dispenser to Phase I as Mr. Balcone volunteered to fund
dispenser
e. Work Plan: Evalua on and monitoring of success of the dog park should be added as a
responsibility of commi ee
f. Summary of Recommenda ons: Add appointment of Kate Lucas, Muriel More and Molly
Bezio

a) SBCC presenta on- June 3, 7PM
b) Leadership transi on
a. Barb will be available by phone and email for ques ons if needed un l June 17th
b. This will be discussion item at Monday’s mee ng
