Call to Order 5:04
Additions and deletions to agenda: Kathy requested we add Outreach Groups as a topic.
Consent agenda: Approval of Minutes, K. M moved and Linda 2nd Only change to minutes
was the correction of Linda Darlington’s name spelling. With this correction, the motion
passes.
We discussed the Outreach groups discussed and collected. Some of these groups have
been surveyed when the architects were in meetings, others have not been approached. An
incomplete list includes:
Middle School Students
High School Students
Elementary Schools groups from each school
Rotary (Jay and Ilona are presenting at 7:30 Thursday)
Special Olympics (Penne will emai Jay and Rotary Programming person)
Many more stakeholders we will need to identify
Jennifer gave a quick roundup of the tween group that has been met.
Mark continues to remind our group that the Marcotte school parents and teachers will
have strong feelings about the reshaping of the school grounds and parking plans. Very
important to be sure they are heard as they may see highest impact during school and
school events.
WE will need to ine tune the format of the meetings with stakeholders- what does our
community need? Advocacy is the job of educating our townspeople. We need to approach
the message about the Library/City Hall with caution.
Jennifer said we need to follow the feasibility study now and n the future:
Focus on what we do know
Why we need it- the new library
There continues to need to be a simultaneous understanding of paring and access.
Though it was thought that SOBU questions would be created by architects, that will not be
the case, thus requiring that of our Board.
Our current advocacy will consist of encouraging our citizens to attend the future meeting
of the City with the Architects…
Homework : any ideas you may have for the “do you know” campaign can be sent to
Jennifer for collating. We believe this may increase interest in the March meetings. We will
be working on collaborating with the Other Paper to have some paid advertising.
Next Meeting is March 1st at 5 PM at the Library
Respectfully Submitted,
Bonnie Finnigan
