Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, September 3, 2013

South Burlington Municipal Offices, 2nd Floor Conf. Room

Members present: Sandy Dooley, Gretchen Calcagni, Eric Farrell, Larry Michaels, Ken Schatz
Jim Knapp and John Simson.
Members absent: Also present: Cathyann LaRose, City Planner
• The meeting was opened at 5:00 pm.
• Members who attended the stakeholders meeting during the community visioning week
(August 26-29) shared the conversation and general thoughts.
• Members discussed the status of the Affordable Housing Committee’s report which
recommended a housing trust fund. Members agreed that any thoughts of inclusionary zoning
must be in parallel with a housing trust fund. Jim Knapp moved to allow the Chair to write a
letter to the City Council chair to state: “that the trust fund is a priority of the Committee, that it
would achieve the objectives of the affordable housing, that the AHSC would like to see the
Council start to act on the creation of the fund, and to please place the topic on a future City
Council agenda.” Sandy Dooley seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
• Members continued the discussion of Energy Committee recommendations to the following
meeting.
• Members agreed to compile a list of principles and email them in advance of the next meeting
for others to read and be ready to discuss at the next meeting.
