Meeting Minutes

South Burlington Municipal Offices, 2nd Floor Conf. Room

Members present: Sandy Dooley, Gretchen Calcagni, Eric Farrell, Larry Michaels, Ken Schatz
Jim Knapp and John Simson.
Members absent: Also present: Cathyann LaRose, City Planner
• The meeting was opened at 5:00 pm.
• Staff updated the Subcommittee on community visioning week which is to be the week after.
Members agreed to meet with the consulting team as part of the stakeholder interviews.
• Members discussed the differences between ownership and rental goals in the plan, and agreed
to focus on cost rather than type of ownership.
• The Committee discussed goals for perpetual affordability, including Jim Knapp’s thoughts which
were shared.
• Members discussed a request from the Energy Committee to mandate that all new affordable
units meet an efficiency level higher than the state requirement. Eric Farrell and Larry Michaels
agreed to do research on the costs of this requirement.
• Members continued to compile thoughts and questions for follow up with Paul Dreher.
• Members agreed to not hold a meeting the week of August 26th.
