Additions and deletions to the posted agenda None Comments and questions from the public not related to items on the agenda None Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Upon a motion made by Trustee Ted Lenski and seconded by Trustee Kevin Morgenstein Fuerst, the Trustees voted unanimously to accept the minutes of the September 2022 Finance Committee Meeting. Review of FY 23 Budget The committee reviewed the FY23 Actual vs Budget. Jennifer Murray reported no concerns with the budget at this time. Jennifer reported two staff members were leaving. The Digital Specialist position might be considered as two positions as the current position as two key components that might be better served if separated. The additional hours that the library is now open is well received by the public. The library has been able to offer to toddler hours which has reduced some of the crowding in the Wiggle Room. Review FY 24 Draft Budget The chair reviewed the library budget that the city will vote on in March. It is less $30,000 than what the committee proposed and there is a $280 error which may be a typo. The chair and the director will review to understand the discrepancies. Discuss Library Gift Account & Foundation Oversight The committee discussed the process for use of the Gift Account and reiterated that anything under $1,000, Jennifer could purchase without approval by the Library Foundation Directors. The chair will discuss with the Foundation Working Committee how the Gift Account works. Foundation funds will be allocated on a yearly basis and if necessary, the Library Director can request additional funds to the Foundation Directors if needed. Acknowledgement letters and thank you letters will be sent to donors and grantors as appropriate by the Director and the Foundation Working Committee. Holiday Benefits for Part Time Employees The committee discussed the request for holiday benefits for part time library employees (5 staff are in this category). Jennifer Murray explained that this is a benefit that other libraries across the state provide to their employees. It is a helpful benefit for recruitment and retention. The City of South Burlington does not offer this benefit. The committee chair will move this discussion to the Library Board of Trustees for further discussion and action. Committee Charge Reviewed The Finance Committee charge was reviewed and with suggested edits was acceptable to all committee members present. Seeing no other business, the chair adjourned the meeting at 6:30 pm.
