Additions and deletions to the posted agenda None Comments and questions from the public not related to items on the agenda None Approval of regular board minutes of June 8,2023 Upon a motion made by Trustee Anne LaLonde and seconded by Trustee Margery Vagt,the Trustees voted unanimously to accept the minutes of the June 8,2023 Board of Trustees Meeting. Chair’s report The Trustees welcomed our newest Trustee,Theresa Eirmann,and everyone introduced themselves. Adult Services Librarian Mira Geffner will come to the next Trustees meeting to tell us about her work at the Library.Stacey hopes to have different members of the staff come to our monthly meetings. Jessie Baker will come to the August or September Trustee meeting to give us an orientation to City of South Burlington committee work. The Rick Marcotte Central School fifth grade will probably not be in the library while their new modular classrooms are being built. Friends of the Library report (submitted by Sue Raatikainen) Bookshop ●May sales $332.97,June sales $523.45 ●Price increase initiated July 1:Hardcover changed from $2 to $3,Trade Paper changed from $1 to $2,Children’s Hardcover changed from $1 to $2 and Children’s Softcover changed from .50 to $1.It’s our first price increase in the Friends history. Marketing ●We designed a new pamphlet to promote membership and donations. StoryWalk Fund ●$4000 set aside,half of the proposed cost of the project. The Friends also redid their bylaws recently,and Penne presented last month to the Friends on behalf of the Foundation. Committee Reports Communications Committee The window clings are here!Thank you to Penne for designing them.The staff is excited about them and they went into the adult reading prize bags.Each Trustee present received one,and Rebecca will leave some in the mailboxes for Trustees and Friends. The summer reading tote bag is also here!Again,thank you to Penne for her design.Each Trustee present received one and Rebecca will put some in the mailboxes for Trustee and Friends. The committee is considering purchasing a pop-up tent for events such as SB Night Out. Finance Committee The Finance Committee did not meet in June,but will meet in August to prepare for the budget.So far this fiscal year,we are in line with the budget.The Foundation created a CD for some of its funds at a 4.15%interest rate. Governance and Nomination Committee Did not meet last month but will meet next week. Foundation Working Group The working group did not meet in June but met earlier this week.They discussed the financial statements for last fiscal year and the budget for this fiscal year.Their goal is to raise $19,000 and give $20,000 to the library gift fund. The working group spent most of the last meeting going over the Foundation’s bylaws and discussing how to make them consistent with the discussion at the last Foundation Board meeting.They made macro and micro changes to the bylaws.Thank you to Anne,who took the lead in incorporating changes into a new document.The Foundation Board will discuss these bylaws in September,and they will be circulated in August.Some portions of the bylaws require unanimous votes to change. The group is working on the upcoming Annual Appeal letter. Director’s Report The Library has been busy recently.Summer reading is going well.Teens and adults in the summer reading program can receive prize packs.
