6:10 p.m. Advocacy Projects
Discussion around “Thank You” video for donors.
Members discussed edits to Lee Freeman’s “thank you” video from August, including:
• Addition of new video clips of some key stakeholders – Jay Pasackow (ASPIRE
Campaign Chairperson), Helen Riehle (City Council Chair) and Jennifer Murray
(Library Director).
• Addition of the ASPIRE logo
• Addition of an “end slate” with a call to action such as “For more information or Learn
More”
• Remove the credits
Penne asked if the We Video watermark was removable and asked if there was music? Lee
verified there was a light music bed in the video and due to the WE Video licensing, the logo
had to remain in the version we have access to.
For video time considerations, Penne Tompkins suggested tightening the video by removing
the fiber arts group shot and editing the individual remarking around the Chess Club.
Holly suggested adding lower third titles underneath the speakers to better ID them for
viewers.
Recommend videos clips of new stakeholders be filmed in the Library. Potentially Jay in front
of the ASPIRE wall, Helen in the Family/Kids Room and Jennifer in the main library area.
Options being looked at for who can serve at videographer. Penne has a contact of a student
involved in media arts and Holly volunteered to shoot new content after Thanksgiving. Goal
would be to complete before end of the year.
6:40 p.m. Communications Planning Framework
Rebecca Stazi and committee members discussed creation of a communications strategies
plan. Rebecca to circulate a “template” for the committee to peruse and begin to think about
the high level goals, key audiences, key messages, tactical outreach plan and timeline.
6:50 p.m. Upcoming Amplification Opportunities
Penne highlighted the upcoming Illuminate Vermont event taking place on December 16 and
17 on Market Street and within the City Center, including the Library. Learn more:

Discussion around whether there might be opportunities and/or budget to co-promote the
Library at this event to the many folks who may attend this first-time event? Tactics such as
bookmarks, bathroom mirror clings, join the Library or BookFace station came up in
discussion.
7:00 p.m. Other Business
As also a representative to the South Burlington Library Foundation Volunteer Committee
Penne reported an annual appeal letter is slated to be distributed in early December.
Jennifer Murray shared updates with the group including:
• Querying the staff to ID key programs to boost about on social in December.
• Talking to staff about recreating simple flyers for social that will be mobile friendly.
• Followed up with the Find and Go Seek website to correct some errors on their online
calendar of events, organized the information better under “South Burlington Library.”
School aged info has not yet been loaded and SBPL staff have been asked to ensure
“crafts”, “story”, and “storytime” are in all descriptors for SEO purposes.
