6:04 p.m. Approval of September 20, 2022 minutes ACTION
Penne Tompkins made a motion to approve the minutes and Holly Painter seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously.
6:05 p.m. Advocacy work landscape at other libraries – share research findings
Penne shared features of note from the Framingham, MA Public Library including book sales;
lifelong learning opportunities; customized newsletters and thematic bundles for patrons to
take out.
Holly shared a document looking at Instagram presence at six different libraries including:
South Orange Public Library, South Orange, NJ; Ypsilanti District Library, Ypsilanti, MI; Kent
Memorial Library, Suffield, CT; Holliston Public Library, Holliston, MA; West Bloomfield Public
Library, West Bloomfield, MI and Kenosha Public Library, Kenosha, WI.
6:25 p.m. Upcoming Amplification opportunities & channels:
• Fall programming
• Communications/editorial calendar
• Social media meet and greets
Rebecca provided an overview of the meet and greets with library staff who manage
Facebook and Instagram for the SBPL.
Opportunity to promote the Library’s social handles on all collateral, located at front desk,
etc. Bathroom clings were suggested as a tactic.
For the next SBLBOT meeting, please come early to participate in BookFace photos to be
provided to Library staff member who manages Instagram.
Discussion around doing some test and learns with Facebook boosting. Jennifer Murray,
Library Director, suggested creating some “boosting criteria.” Suggestion to try boosting posts
on Facebook for the “But Why” event ahead of 11/5/22.
Penne asked if anyone would want to an additional admin on the Facebook page for the South
Burlington Library Foundation. Rebecca volunteered.
Holly raised the opportunity to optimize and add to the Library’s postings on
FindAndGoSeek.net’s online calendar of free and recurring events for kids/families. Jennifer
took as a follow-up and will ask staff to handle.
7:00 p.m. Next steps on the “thank you” video
Discussion around next steps and amplification plan for “thank you” video created by SBLBOT
member Lee Freeman. Conversation around edits which could enhance current version,
inclusion of additional stakeholders, potential use for springtime around key national Library
moments. Stacey Pape to circulate the video to the Advocacy Committee members for
comments. Opportunity to investigate creation of a new video produced by same individual
who produced INSPIRE campaign video. More discussion required.

Penne highlighted the upcoming Illuminate Vermont event taking place on December 16 and
17 on Market Street and within the City Center, including the Library. Learn more:
