It has scheduled its next meetings in October, November, and January. Advocacy Committee The committee will hold a meeting the week of September 20th. It is currently discussing how to celebrate the end of the ASPIRE campaign. After September, the committee will look at the strategic plan and align some activities with the plan. Stacey mentioned that they are considering how to leverage Lee’s thank you video, whether to send it via email to donors, put it on social media, or follow other options. Before doing so, they will check with the Foundation working group for their thoughts. Foundation Volunteer Working Committee Not much news. Anne and Kevin finished a draft of the annual appeal letter. Director’s Report The Drag Queen Story Hour is at noon on September 24th and any Trustees who are available should come at 11:00. They should email Jennifer if they are coming to get information from her ahead of time. There has been no feedback at this point about the story hour. Jennifer wants to make sure there are enough people at the upcoming Jason Chin drawing class, which is at 10:30 on September 17. Holly suggested that she contact the Davis Studio to let them know this is happening. Staffing issues have been all-consuming for Jennifer. She’s hired a cataloguer and is trying to hire a teen specialist and fill two positions in circulation. Submitted written report by Jennifer Murray: ●Terrific staff took care of all things library during my reduced hours in August. Glad to be back full time! ●New Cataloging Specialist has been hired internally. Julie Frappier will start her full time job on 9/22. Offer may be pending for a YA Specialist. Sue Meyer, Circulation Specialist, has resigned as of October. ●Jennifer and Kathryn are evaluating the pros and cons of filling Sue’s position as is (full time with benefits but not tasks with responsibility) or to use that position to create another full time position and up the hours of all the Circ Assts (a lot more hours combined to work the desk and have one area of focus.) ●Charlotte is working on a new KidSpace web page that complements our current site and gives direction for some updates overall. ●As promised here are the teen and adult participation stats for summer reading: 125 raffle entries from 70 adults and 118 raffle entries from 61 teens. Two adult programs were specific to summer reading: the Mikehaly concert and a book discussion of Soul of an Octopus. ●Strategic plan meeting coming soon. ●ARPA 2 balance of $4600 spent on books for all ages to make our collections more representative of the wider population. ●Regular storytimes all start back the week of 9/19, including a 1xmo Middle School Makers program. They are starting with baking and hope to move next to creating zombie Barbies. Anyone have Barbie clothes that we could have for this? ●Drag Queen Storytime scheduled for 9/24 at noon. Trustees who want to attend should plan to meet at the library at 11:00 a.m. to clarify our role and message. No trouble so far. ●Kelly worked with Jessie to get the word out to City Employees about getting their pics up with Banned Books in the KidSpace. Come early to the meeting and get your picture taken! Bring a book or use one that they have collected. ●Seed Saving and Sharing program on 9/17 10:30 ●Please let folks who would like to draw know that Jason Chin is offering a single class on Life Drawing. They are up in the City’s gallery and you can comment via paper slips or a QR code. ●Budget calendar has been established. First draft budget sheets due 10/7. ●We need to review the BookVan plan and verify that it is a priority, and for what year, so that I can add it to the new Capital Improvement Plan (or not.) ●Rec Dept is looking at the possibility of a Spring parade to meet public interest in such. JM will stay in touch. ●The 2nd floor display is empty – have something you’d like to display for a few weeks? ●At long last, the Public Art Committee will hold a dedication for “Gooses” (no typo, that is the artist’s copywrited name) in the Market Street Stormwater Park, Tuesday, September 20, at 5 PM. ●Good news re UVM and Snyder Braverman in contract to build and rent apartments at Garden Street for university housing. ●Will be meeting with architect to get ideas for blocking of The Hangout to make it more middle school specific. ●Using the new Hiring and Orientation checklists.
