NARRATIVE:
On August 25th, 2021 in the early evening hours South Burlington Police were called to a Dorset Street
hotel for a report of a male suspect forcing his way into a room. Responding officers were able to
determine that the male in question had fled the area eastbound on Market St. Officers took steps to
investigate the incident and locate the suspect involved, the latter of which was unfruitful. The
investigation would ultimately show that the male suspect had entered a room and stole property.
At approximately 2030 hours the male suspect arrived back at the hotel. Officers responded to the
scene in order to identify the male suspect and complete the investigation. Officers met with the
suspect, Isaac Jacobs 44 years of age of Winooski. Initially Jacobs was cooperative but he eventually
attempted to run away from the officers on scene. The officers gave chase during which Jacobs
produced a knife and shouted at the officers to kill him. The officers were able to stop Jacobs and
convince him to drop the knife without further incident. Jacobs was subsequently taken into custody
and later to the University of Vermont Medical Center for screening. Jacobs was issued a citation for the
crime of burglary; the arraignment date is set for November.
