NARRATIVE:
On 7/8/2021 at 3:38 AM, Burlington Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Grove Street
in Burlington, in which the operator fled the scene. During their investigation they located an
ATM with the vehicle. The ATM, which was supposed to be inside of Aviation Deli located at
1223 Airport Drive in South Burlington, was heavily damaged and appeared to have been
forcibly removed.
Officers from the South Burlington Police Department responded to Aviation Deli and found
that the front glass door and window of the business had been smashed, and the side door had
been completely removed. Inside the business the ATM had been removed. Also taken from the
business were multiple packs of cigarettes, lighters, and cigars.
Investigation revealed a cellphone inside the crashed vehicle. A search warrant conducted on
the cellphone, along with interviews with the vehicle owner, led officers to arrest David Oleson,
37, of Burlington. DNA evidence was obtained at the scene, and in the vehicle, and was sent to
the lab for analysis.
Oleson was charged with multiple ATM thefts in the Fall of 2020. He was lodged at Northwest
State Correctional Facility on $3,500 Bail and scheduled for court on 7/12/2021 at 8:30 AM.
