HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Library Board of Trustees - 04/08/2021 Approved Minutes South Burlington Library Board of Trustees Thursday, April 8th, 2021 @ 6 p.m. Location: Zoom meeting Members Present: Margaret Ann Cross, Patrick Leduc,Ted Lenski, Stacey Pape, Jay Pasackow, Penne Tompkins, Margery Vagt, Lee Freeman, Lauren Ballard, Members Absent: Diane Bugbee, Alicia Lamonda Staff Members Present: Jennifer Murray Friends of the Library Present: Katharine McConnell 6:03 p.m. Call to Order 6:03 p.m. Additions and deletions to the posted agenda none 6: p.m. Comments and questions from the public not related to items on the agenda none 603 p.m. Approval of regular board minutes of March 11, 2021 Upon a motion made by Trustee Jay Pasackow and seconded by Trustee Penne Tompkins, the Trustees voted unanimously to approve the Minutes from the March 11th meeting. 6:04 p.m. Chair’s report Chair Leduc checked in on the new started time of 6:00pm. Two members of the board said they preferred the earlier start time of 5:00 PM and others did not voice an opinion. Patrick will reach out to trustees that are not present to get their input and then set the next meeting time. Patrick then updated the trustees on the activities of the Ad-hoc committee. Patrick shared that the group has met and have scheduled a second meeting for April 19th. Ted Lenski asked if the books will be available to board members and Jennifer said SBPL has them and will make them available for the board. The committee will be invited to come to the next board meeting to discuss their recommendation. 6:15 p.m. Friends of the Library report Katharine McConnell said the FOL has agreed to donate $6500 on top of the $4500 they have already allocated to Jennifer Murray for operating expenses. MargaretAnn Cross and Ted Lenski are reapplying. Interviews for applicants begin on April 19th. The board will review the updated Privacy Policy at the next meeting. 6:27 p.m.Finance Committee Report Ted Lenski said he and Jennifer Murray are working out budget and staffing. Ted will meet with Tom Hubbard to discuss finances. 6:29 p.m. Advocacy Committee Report Lee Freeman is working on the revised script. Penne Tompkins asked the advocacy committee to be involved with the marketing meeting on April 13th at 5:00 PM. Jennifer Murray, Jay Pasackow, Patrick Leduc, and Lee Freeman are all meeting with the city about the ground breaking ceremony. 6:33 p.m. Director’s Report Jennifer Murray gave an update on the new library. The library plans to reopen in the mall on May 3rd for six weeks. The SBPL will be closed for three weeks for the move. Jennifer is hopeful the grand opening will be the third week of July. Penne Tompkins asked about the library hours when it reopens and Jennifer said they will be open six days a week, four hours a day. Jennifer also noted the library is now checking out T- Mobile hotspots. 6:49 p.m. Other Business Jay Pasackow said the ASPIRE campaign will continue. He suggested all board members make a list of people and send the video and contribution form. He also suggested sending the naming opportunities. 7:02 p.m. Adjourn Hearing no other business Char Patrick Leduc adjourned the meeting at 7:02
