Burke sburke@southburlingtonpolice.org NARRATIVE: On May 5th, 2021 at 9:24 PM the South Burlington Police were called to a report of a single gunshot which had emanated from 310 Market Street #302. Responding officers were able to determine that the occupants of the apartment in question had been handling a 9mm pistol. A person unfamiliar with the pistol had an accidental discharge while manipulating it. The bullet damaged a piece of furniture in the apartment and lodged in a wall. During the investigation the South Burlington Fire Department erected their ladder truck to ensure that the bullet hadn’t penetrated through the exterior wall. The investigation is still evolving, information known thus far suggests that this was an accidental discharge of the pistol. No one was injured and any potential criminal charges will be contemplated in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office. #END#
