UPDATE:
The South Burlington Police are continuing to investigate the fatal motor vehicle crash that
occurred on December 14, 2020. The operator of Vehicle #2, which remained on scene, is
identified as Hannah Kuckovic, age 18, of Burlington Vermont.
Investigators have identified the other vehicle involved in the crash as a Volkswagen Passat.
Investigators believe that this Volkswagen sustained front end and/or undercarriage damage as
a result of the crash.
Additionally, investigators are interested identifying and speaking with a nurse who stopped
and rendered aid to the victim, as well as the operator of an orange car which was present at
the crash scene.

NARRATIVE:
On December 14, 2020 at 10:29 PM, South Burlington Police and Fire Departments were
dispatched to a report of a vehicle verses pedestrian crash, which had occurred near 1210
Shelburne Road.
Investigating officers were able to determine the operator of a north bound vehicle, operator
#1, had struck the pedestrian in the roadway and left the scene. A second vehicle traveling
behind vehicle #1 did not see the victim lying in the roadway. Unable to stop in time, vehicle #2
also struck the victim. The operator of vehicle #2 remained on scene and cooperated fully with
investigators.
The pedestrian was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center by South
Burlington Fire / Rescue for treatment. The victim was identified as Jermee Slaughter age 34 of
Plainfield, VT. Slaughter succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the medical center.
Investigators are working with evidence left at the scene from vehicle #1 and a variety of
ambient video sources to further the investigation. Investigators ask that anyone with
