NARRATIVE:
On December 11, 2020 at approximately 6:25am, officers from the South Burlington
Police Department were summoned to the area of 935 Shelburne Road for a motor vehicle
crash involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian, 37 year old John Monica of Burlington, was
transported by ambulance to the University of Vermont Medical Center with serious injuries.
Investigation revealed the vehicle, operated by 40 year old Damian Siskavich of
Burlington, was traveling north on Shelburne Road when Mr. Monica attempted to cross the
roadway in an area not marked for pedestrians. Mr. Siskavich was traveling within the speed
limit and obeying all other traffic laws and could not see Mr. Monica, who was wearing dark
clothing, prior to the collision.
