Sergeant Gerry Eno geno@southburlingtonpolice.org VICTIM: AGE: VICTIM ADDRESS: Delta Hotel South Burlington SUSPECT: AGE: SUSPECT ADDRESS: Malcolm Sovey 18 Milton, Vermont DISPOSITION: Arraigned and released with conditions UPDATE: After conducting a thorough investigation, the South Burlington Police charged Malcolm Sovey, age 18 of Milton, with Assault and Robbery. Sovey turned himself into police on the afternoon of December 10, 2020. He was later released with a citation to appear in court the following morning. Additionally, the investigation revealed Sovey’s accomplice to be a 16 year old juvenile. The juvenile was located on December 7, 2020 at his home. He was also charged with Assault and Robbery, and issued a citation to appear in court on February 11, 2021. NARRATIVE: On the listed date and time, the South Burlington Police responded to a reported armed robbery that had occurred at the Delta Hotel, 1117 Williston Road. Responding officers learned that two male suspects entered the lobby area of the hotel and tendered a transaction with the clerk. During the transaction one of the male suspects produced a firearm as both males converged on the clerk. The suspects were able to access the open cash drawer and fled with the contents. The clerk sustained a minor injury during the robbery. The suspects were described as male; one of whom was at least 6’0” tall and thin, the other being noticeably shorter and thin as well, the tall male was dressed in black including a black mask, the shorter male was wearing a red sweatshirt with dark pants and mask. The suspects were last seen fleeing the hotel in the direction of Mary St. 19 Gregory Drive, South Burlington, Vermont 05403 | 802-846-4111 www.southburlingtonpolice.org Detectives are pursuing a number of leads in this case to include ambient video. If valuable video evidence becomes available investigators will share it with the public to help further the investigation.
