Whipple, Chief of Police SOUTH BURLINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ***UPDATE*** PRESS RELEASE Phone: 846-4111 INCIDENT #: 18SB002660 Fax #: 846-4102 INVESTIGATING OFFICER: Detective Pope DATE/TIME: March 8, 2018 INCIDENT TYPE: Fraud BRIEF NARRATIVE: On March 8, 2018 South Burlington Police received a report of a fraud that had occurred at a local business. The victim advised that his debit card was stolen, and was then used fraudulently at Shaw’s Supermarkets in South Burlington, as well as at least one other location in Chittenden County. The South Burlington Police issued a press release attempting to identify the female involved. Thanks to that press release, a suspect was developed. Further investigation revealed that Joy Ladue, age 31, of Colchester, used the stolen debit card at Shaw’s Supermarket in South Burlington and Colchester. Ladue was arrested on July 26, 2018. She was charged with false pretenses and identity theft. Ladue is due in Chittenden Superior Court on August 9, 2018 to answer the charges. No mugshot available.
