BRIEF NARRATIVE: On 04/07/2018 at approximately 12:25 AM a South Burlington Police Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Williston Road when they observed a vehicle traveling from Burlington into South Burlington. The vehicle was traveling at a speed of 40 miles per hour in a posted 25 mile per hour speed zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Christopher Benoit, 40, of South Burlington, VT. While speaking to Benoit the Officer observed an odor of intoxicants emanating from his person and for his eyes to be bloodshot and watery. The Officer administered a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises in which Benoit displayed numerous clues of impairment. Benoit provided a preliminary sample of his breath showing his BAC to be .101%. Benoit was subsequently taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and issued a citation to appear in court on 04/26/2018 at 08:30 AM to answer to the charge.
