Released on bail and ordered to appear in Superior Court on December 31st, 2018
NARRATIVE:
On December 29th, 2018 shortly before 9:00 PM Amrou Mohamed, 23 years of age, of South
Burlington, Vermont surrendered at police headquarters for his role in the shooting incident which
occurred on December 28th, 2018 on Lime Kiln Road.
Mohamed is a resident of the address in question. The investigation found that Mohamed discharged
a .22 caliber rifle at random behind the dwelling in the direction of a small wooded area that separates
the home from a commercial district. At the time of this incident Mohamed was on pre trail conditions
of release stemming from a 2017 Sexual Assault arrest. Among the conditions set by the court in 2017
includes an order that Mohamed not “buy, have or use any firearms or dangerous/deadly weapons”.
Mohamed’s motivation for shooting the .22 caliber rifle at random is still unknown. The investigation
did not uncover any dispute or other situation leading up to the gun fire. Additionally, ballistic
evidence at the scene suggests that the rifle was shot from an exterior door of the residence into a
grouping of trees absent accuracy or any other intended target. Lastly, a handgun, holster,
ammunition, and knives were seized from Mohamed’s home in addition to the .22 caliber rifle used.
Mohamed has a history of failure to appear for court proceedings. Mohamed was taken into custody
and later released on bail and additional court imposed conditions, including that he appear for
arraignment on December 31st, 2018 to answer to the charge of Violation of Conditions of Release.
