Minutes
Meeting Convened at 5:05 PM
1. Welcome
2. Instructions on exiting building in case of emergency.
3. Agenda Review: Additions, deletions, or changes in order of
agenda items. There were no changes in the agenda
4. Comments and questions from the public not related to the
agenda: There were no comments from the public.
5. City Council Request: The Committee discussed the City
Council’s request for an Economic Development Committee
member to serve as liaison on TDR, Interim Zoning
Committee. Michael Albertson was proposed for the position. Albertson appointed by unanimous vote.
6. Minutes of the 10.22.18 Committee meeting: Approved
unanimously.
7. VT Dept. of Economic Development Presentation: Nick
Grimly, presenting on behalf of the VT. Dept. of Economic
Development, informed the committee on Vermont
Opportunity Zones, their impact, history, applicability and
regulations.
8. South Burlington Comprehensive Plan: Cathy Anne Larose,
City Planner, briefed the Committee on the South Burlington
Comprehensive Plan, its history and future direction. It was
noted that the State requires economic development be addressed in the new comprehensive plan. John Wilking
requested additional City data to facilitate the Committee’s
mandate.
9. South Burlington City Center Development: City Project Director Ilona Blanchard briefed the Committee on South
Burlington’s City Center Project and financing plan.
Committee discussed the scope and types of businesses that
could be targeted for development in City Center.
10. Other Business: There was no other business to come before
the Committee.
11. Adjourn: The Committee adjourned at 7:18 pm. Next
meeting scheduled for January 28, 2019.
