Minutes
Meeting Called to Order at 5:35 PM
1. Welcome: Kevin Dorn
2. Instructions on exiting building in case of emergency.
3. The Chair and Vice Chair could not attend meeting.
Committee Clerk, Michael Albertson presided as Chair.
4. Agenda Review: Additions, deletions, or changes in order of
agenda items. There were no additions to the agenda.
5. Comments and questions from the public not related to the
agenda: There were no comments from the public.
6. Discussed the Economic Development Committee’s Mission: City Manger Kevin Dorn explained what the City is looking
for from the committee.
Committee discussed issues on which the committee could
have a positive impact: Transit, Infrastructure, Parking, Traffic and Congestion.
7. Exit 12B: Committee debated whether they should become
involved in the Exit 12B issue and what impact it may have.
Committee voted to invite business groups and other interested parties who support 12B to attend a committee
meeting and educate committee on the issue. Committee will
extend the same invitation to groups that oppose Exit 12B.
Committee directed City Manager Kevin Dorn to arrange.
8. Airport Re-Zoning: Committee discussed the possibility of re-
zoning areas around the airport for industrial/commercial use
where homes have been eliminated.
9. Committee Priorities: A motion was made to designate 3 Committee priorities for further research/discussion per full
committee approval. The priorities chosen and passed
unanimously are: 1) Exit 12B 2) Re-Zoning area around
airport where 200 homes have been eliminated 3) Logic
Supply and surrounding wetlands.
10. New Group in SB: Kevin Dorn informed the Committee
about a new Hospitality Group promoting tourism in South Burlington.
11. Local Codes and City Center: Committee discussed local
codes and how they relate to and impact, City Center
development.
12. Consensus Pilot Project: John provided an update on the
citizen participation Consensus Pilot Project.
13. Adjourn: The Committee adjourned at 7: 15 pm. Next
meeting scheduled for April 25, 2019.
